- Command Post 5.0 Quickstart Information
-
- Thank you for trying this version of Command Post.
-
- Command Post is a MS Windows shareware application designed to allow users to
- easily personalize the MS-DOS Executive control window. Command Post allows
- users to easily add Menu and Submenu items to the main MS-DOS Executive menu
- bar, and gives them control of their Windows environment.
-
- Complete documentation for Command Post is in the file CMDPOST.TXT, but to get
- up and running, simply copy the following files from the distribution diskette,
- or from the un-arc'ed CMDP50.ARC file to your C:\WINDOWS directory, or any
- other directory defined in your DOS PATH statement:
-
- CMDPOST.EXE
- CMDLIB.EXE
- CMDPOST.MNU
- COMMAND.PIF <-- If you do not already have one to start COMMAND.COM
-
- While in Windows just doubleclick on CMDPOST.EXE to start Command Post. You
- will want to modify the LOAD= line in your WIN.INI file so that Command Post
- starts anytime you start Windows. (I know you think the RUN= line would be
- better, but it simply is not so). On my system the lines read as follows:
-
- RUN=
- LOAD=CMDPOST.EXE
-
-
- Changes from Version 4.9
-
- (A detailed list of changes from most major versions may be found in
- Appendix B of CMDPOST.TXT)
-
-
- Clock Display completely changed. You should at least read the part
- about the Clock Display in the documentation, but in essence:
- Move display via dragging with left mouse button.
- Change display by clicking it with the right button.
- Hot Click to Command Post by double-clicking it with the left button.
- If either of the time displays are active, the Clock Display will
- try to maintain itself on the surface of the screen so that it is
- always visible, and thus available for "Hot-Clicking".
-
- A System Information menuitem under the CmdPost menu will provide the
- most detailed and hopefully informative summary of available memory yet
- available in Windows.
-
- Some animation has been added to the blanked screen display, so that
- your computer does not simply appear as "off".
-
- Fixed memory usage of CmdPost reduced by about 1000 bytes.
